Default Hey you guys got another newbie!

So hey football is over and I am going to wrestle, I'm 5'6 and weigh 165.This will be my first year to wrestle but I think I could be really good at it. I am alot stronger than everyone else in my weight class so I think that will be an advantage. But everyone trumps me experience wise, happened to me in football too but I prevailed. So like could someone explain the rules and regulations to me a bit? Been on wiki and didn't come up with much.I have been watching the state champ's vids and it seems pretty complicated.

So I lift weights alot but cardio wise I'm not the best, I have started running. So anything I can do to get my cardio up workouts anything.
Everyone will try to like destroy me I know but I plan on being a very aggresive wrestler so I hope thats a good thing.

So basically please leave me some workouts, techniques, anything that can be of use. Thanks alot guys.

Also I have read the sticky but didn't understand alot.

Welcome to the world's greatest sport - now expect to get your a$$ kicked for a bit until you catch on. Cardio is really important - there is another forum for workouts that has a lot that might be of interest to you, such as http://www.thewrestlingtalk.com/work...few-weeks.html
Strength helps - especially trunk stringth and grip strength, but nothing says wrestling like good technique. For that you are going to have to work your butt off in practice - when the coach says "drill", thank him. Strength, flexibility, agility, quickness, technique, luck - all play a part in wrestling.
The rules will come to quickly as the practices go along - they will be explained and reinforced as you learn the rest.
It is a great sport. No one is going to expect you to be the next Sanderson (at least not until your second year) so just work hard and have fun.
Last but not least, stop starting all of your sentences with "so"!

Thanks for the help and I'm going to aim not to get my butt kicked but what happens will happen. I'm really excited to join this sport it seems like great fun. Also sorry about the "so" thing I didn't notice it, don't do it on the other forums.

haha you can aim to not get your butt kicked but your first match you wont have a clue whats going on no matter how you prepare so its gonna happen. just work on technique and run run run and it might be beneficial to drop to 160 weight class to put your strength to even more use
