I hope the coach doesn't read this thread:)
I would imagine nobody would be thrilled to have their coach removed and replaced to conform to a new district budget, but it happened.
The head coach at my old high school surrounds himself with technicians and rarely teaches technique himself. A good coach is not always a master of the sport- often times it is someone who manages well and surrounds himself with people who can help him & the team excel.
Be happy they just cut the just and not the sport. If you can get some books on wrestling, get them to him. Every coach wants to learn.
My coaches coach was the football coach and had never wrestled. He took over wrestling they won a state title and were a perennial power. My coach won individual state titles and his coach was inducted into the AZ sports hall of fame for coaching wrestling, and he is still top ten all time winningest coaches. So it can be done it just depends on the coaches mentality and dedication to the sport. Give him a chance.
Things aren't as bad as I had initially thought. Turns out the guy wrestled all through school and then in college, too. I guess we just jumped to conclusions because all we've seen from him has been football.
