Default Do i have a chance?

Hello i am a Junior this year, 5'6 170lbs(basically all muscle) and i have only wrestled 8th grade year, and this last freestyle season. My question is do i have a chance of going to state before the end of my senior year? Im going to go hard and give it everything i'v got and make this happen to the best of my ability regardless of my chances but i'd like to get some idea of what im getting myself into haha
    Thank you

Of course you have a chance! But whether you make it to state, or not, you will still be successful. It's like Danny Glover's line in the new wrestling movie (Legendary), nobody is asking you to win, they are just asking you to show up. Keep your focus on getting better every day and whether you get to states or not, you will be a better person for trying.

Yes, wrestling is 20% strength, 30% technique, and 50% heart. If you're willing to make it your world, you can go to states no matter how much experience you have, as long as you have a couple seasons to work on it that is. Besides, even if you don't go to states you will still better yourself in so many ways from wrestling.

Good to hear. The key is to soak everything you can in at practice and stay after working on it. You can grab a partner or shadow wrestle by practicing moves against a wall (stand ups) or in the open (take downs, switches, sit outs). If your practice is 1 1/2 hours long and you spend an extra 1/2 hour every day after practice and an extra 1/2 hour each morning running and doing push ups, sit ups, and other body weight exercises you can make up a lot of ground really fast. You will be doing 66% more work than everyone else by just doing a little extra each day.

On the weekends or a few evenings each week after you're done with practice spend time reviewing technique in our free video library http://www.thewrestlingtalk.com/videos/ If you're doing all of these things on top of practice you and everyone around you will be shocked by your growth.

Don't be afraid to ask questions here - we're here to help you on your journey and a lot of us have won state titles and know what it takes to get to that level.

    Good Luck!
