Thread: Who is the best team/wrestler in your state?

PA is an absolute monster when it comes to wrestling. IMHO I think Gulibon is the best on his feet and at the HS level more than adequate in the other position to make him PAs best HS wrestler at this time. one career true loss and has given up offensive points only two times in his Career and the one was with a large lead in a match at states.

Definitely agree with you. PA is so deep it's not even funny. I think Courts looks like the better all around athlete between he and Megaludis, but Megaludis might get the nod as a recruit because he's a 125.

If you are going by numbers of titles then Megaludis. He is very quick & is relentless. He has done well in National Tournaments. However Courts is so strong & coming out of the same program that gave us the Peppleman brothers & several State championships & State duals titles.

The more I think about it the more I start considering some of the other good talent I have watched recently, Brooks Black (PA kid going to Blair) @ 285, Jason Luster @ 152 Kiski Prep & even mason Beckman @ 119 Reynolds, (AA so unless he wrestles Megaludis @ a preseason tourney they won't meet), defending Ironman champ.

Last year's class was ridiculous but you could still probably take the top wrestles in the HS competition NOW & make a competitive college team out of them.

You also have to like a Sophomore who is returning champion in Cody Wiercioch. The kid is such raw talent. And you have to like a FRESHMAN who is already a National Champ in Chance Marstellar who I profiled as much as I could, months ago, in my Faces in the Crowd thread.

So really Jake I don't have an answer @ this point. Think about last year. Who out of PA would you have picked as the number #1 kid? Peppleman? Either of the Altons? Kindig? Tough Qs to answer I think.

Yea he is another who has a chance to win a few crowns & go on to a stellar college career. The PSU BBs are all over this kid as well. And you serve a point here too TF. I mean once you start a discussion about the PA HS kids there is almost always someone else to bring up. What about Nick Roberts? Won a NC but lost in the State Finals!

Now if you asked who is going to have a better college career, that's another can of worms. Then I would definitely go Megaludis. if anything simply because he has been so dominant & there is more competition @ the upper weights. I would still love PSU to land Courts though, however I hear Maryland & former PSU heavyweight great McCoy have the inside track right now.

I would have to go with James Green out of Willingboro. He lost a last second match to Hank Stinson in the finals last year plus I watched him lose a very close match to one of the Altons as well. NO I am not including any BLAIR kids on this discussion cuz all the Blair kids are really from somewhere else, (like PA!).

    NY
Quinton Murphy out of Holley, there might be a few better in the state then this kid but not many. Finished 6th as a 7th grader, won States in 8th grade, lost in the finals as a Freshman & won again last year. Has a career record of 187-11 with 107 falls & 24 TFs & 17 MDs (almost 75% of his wins have been bonus) & he still has 2 years to go. By the time he graduates in 2012 you will have heard of him I am pretty sure!

No tOSU? I could see him and McCauley both liking it there

Minnesota's is Destin McCauley, probably followed by Keough, Kinglsey and Longendyke... Wisconsin I really like Derringer, but everyone else is high on Thielke.
