Explosive workouts. Squat jumps, box jumps, jump ropes to get light on your feet, etc. You have to BE the shot. Visualize it. You are the wind.

Are you actually trying to be more effective on your feet? Perhaps the issue isn't speed but your set-ups, positioning and timing when taking your shots. I recommend you work directly with your coach to find the right fix. Good luck.

Remember to change elevation. Diving downward towards someone's leg is neither fast nor effective.

I've got a couple of drills for you that worked well for me when I wrestled and have also worked for my wrestlers.
    1. Using rubber tubing (strong surgical tubing) have someone stand behind you so that the tubing is across your waist. Have someone stand behind you and keep the tubing stretched tight so that you have resistance. Shoot your way across the room and back several time with resistance. Make sure to shoot to each side of your imaginary opponent.
    2. Using the same rubber tubing reverse it so that when you shoot it is pulling you forward.
    3. I was never a fast wrestler, I had incredible conditioning but never much speed. I found that focusing on setups, finishes, and technique helped me more than anything else. I would set things up so that I never had to cover a lot of distance. My opponent would move toward my attack. I also spent a lot of time ensuring that I could execute all my moves from each side.
