I am just starting high school wrestling im a Sophmore in High School and This will be my 4th year of wrestling, just wondering if ill have a pretty decent chance this year and if anyone can tell me what some good moves to use in high school are im mostly a upper body wrestler and easily able to beat alot of the Seniors at my old school, i finished my past 3 years with these records

    Grade:____Wins/Loss
    7th Grade- 16-14
    8th Grade- 17-12
    9th Grade- 27-10

Ive been foing fairly well and I finally got out of Wrestling for the Middle School even thoguh i was supposed to wrestle varsity in my Freshmen year my coach saw fit to put me as Team Captain for the middle school team, but based on what ive seen so far on different sites and alot of other matches when i went on the road with our varsity ill have my work cut out for me, So if anyone can give me any suggestions for a new high school wrestler on so moves that work really well and what i have in store for me for the next 3 years, im hoping to win state before i graduate in my senior year as well as maintain my steady records and finish this year with atleast 28 wins if possible.

You have to have a "go to" move from every position - your most reliable move that you can go to when you really need an escape or takedown. Only you can decide what works for you, but a good stand-up should be part of your repertoire. Even if you like upper body, you should have at least one good leg attack - single, double, high crotch, or whatever - and you should have several set-ups to go with it.

For some good advice, read the thread "Are my dreams unreasonable" here on the High School forum.

When i was in 7th and 8th grade i used Double leg to devastating effect on alot of first through fourth years, but when i got into 9th grade i switched it up and started using tree tops and single legs, i always tried setting up for single legs during the whole match, for the most part i examed my opponent looking for his strengths and weaknesses usually pinning them in the 2nd round, but i use alot of upper body and lower body moves but for the most part i use upper body especially when i am on top i use mainly the half nelson arm bar usually i would go top in the 3rd period and i would defer in the 2nd. So yeah i have alittle bit of a feel i was wondering if there was any moves that would greatly help me out alot either in lower or upper body, Ill look into that link you sent me though and thank you for the help i much appreciate it

I think a goal of 28 wins this year is selling yourself short. Looking at the progression over the past 3 years I would expect you to go 32-5 or better.

I noticed but my goal is to keep that steady progression over the last 3 years and im hoping to come out atleast 32-5 and i should because last year i lost to the same guy 5 times always by points never by pin and all of them were only 1-2 point differences, but im hoping to keep that increase up and too become alot better, especially since i hope to wrestle for Oklahoma Sooners
