I have a wrestler on my team who had eye surgery and has to wear goggles to protect his eye not to see. It is a pain, but has never caused too big a problem. Rec-Specs work well.

What if the goggles are needed due to an eye injury, as in being shot in the eye and now having an artificial lens? Need to refrain from this eye getting poked. Doesn't need goggles for the vision, just for protection. Is there gear out there for this kind of situation?
