    Default Back to wrestling!

Hey guys, I'm new to the forum and I'd like to start out by saying, Wrestling season is only a few months away and I cant wait. I wreslted at 189 freshmen year, did amazing then broke my ankle forced to quit the season. Sophmore year, I broke the same ANKLE in open mats and coudnt compete the season. Junior year, I broke my other leg in football camp and now... this year.
I fracutred my ankle (same ankle that was broken twice) from a trampoline while I was wrestling on it. It's healed now, but I'm scared I'll break it again. Is it safe to wear a ankle brace while wrestling? I've cut all the way to 155-160 at 12%BF, Im very explosive and wish i can get back what i had really.

Any ways to prevent leg injurys?
I'm going to buy this dummy from combatsports, it weighs 140 pounds and its made for wrestling. ah .. i cant stand shadow wrestling >_<! I

You can definitely wear an ankle brace while wrestling, I'd get a doctor's clearance as to whether or not it's safe to compete on the ankle though..

Hey, thanks for the reply. I actually FRACTURED my Fibula mid may, and got it off mid july. There's still some swelling, but I will, I have an x-ray next week but that wont stop me from wrestling my last year at highschool. Want to make the most out of it ya know

I suggest start drilling technique now along with the conditioning. Get in shape and control of the body before doing to much live will help to reduce injuries. Also you should experience fewer injuries by wrestling more experienced wrestlers. Good Health.

Hey Bailey, I weigh 155-160(changes 5 pounds a day) at 12% Body fat.
I am however going to start conditioning more now, that I'm taking a strength and condition class
in school, it will help me out. I will upload a video of me wrestling soon if not possibly this week.
I believe I'm a little rusty at the moment but practice makes perfect right? I know all the basics as i still have them down.

Get after it. Pick up the timing and postion through drilling with the best partner you can find. Off-season - drill yourself into a coma.

Also have someone videotape you while you live wrestle, then take the tape home and watch to see what mistakes you may be making. This is a real good way to correct things.
