Allow States to choose weights?
This goes along the lines of an earlier post. Why can't the NFHS allow the states to determine the weight classes it wants to have? I know there may be problems crossing borders, but I don't think that those can't be overcome. Let's say Minnesota just wants to have 11 weights and Texas wants to have 15. Why not allow it?
If a team from Minnesota wanted to compete in a dual meet tournament in Texas then they'd just have to fill the other 4 weight classes. If the Texas team went to Minnesota then they'd have to leave 4 guys out.
If we go to a tournament in Texas right now from Louisiana I just get to enter an extra guy. We don't have a 180lb weight class and they do.
Hell 96 and 285 are "optional" weight classes in New York.
Straight from the New York rule book. "On the recommendation of the State Wrestling Committee and with the approval of the State Executive Committee the following weight classes are in effect: 103, 112, 119, 125, 130, 135, 140, 145, 152, 160, 171, 189, 215 with 96 and 285 as optional weights for dual meets and tournaments."
Texas has added 180 and Montana has added 98 and pushed 103 to 105.
