Default how can i get better at wrestling?

it seems like i go most of the off season tournaments and I see a little improvement not a whole lot. I try to practice with a friend of mines who is a national qualifier for Greco-roman. But i don't see improvement. I don't get why I'm not getting better

You need to take a good look at your strengths and weaknesses. Try taping or viewing tapes of your matches and looking for things you could've done better. If you're getting over powered, you need to improve your strength. If you're getting winded easily and don't have enough gas to last 3 periods you need to work on conditioning and mental toughness. You need to also look at your technical errors and see what you can do to improve your technique. If you have great strength, great conditioning, and great technique, you WILL win matches.

    - Body Composition (Fat vs. Muscle vs. Everything else)
    - Strength
    - Technique and Quickness
    - Mental Will / "Heart"
    - Conditioning
    - Flexibility

Repitition is only part of the equation. I'll tell you what helped me get over the hump....

When your watching your Coach or video instruction, pay attention to the tiny little things rather than the obvious. Motion, leverage, hand placement, etc. Even a simple single led take down can be improved if you watch the setup, the foot placement, the penetration, the hand placement, where is the fulcrum (Leverage), where is the drive (power) coming from, is the flow at an angle/stright on/, etc.

As a coach, I look at these small things in my wrestlers and make adjustments with them. It's up to them to focus on these adjustments and re-learn them through repetition until it's second nature.

If you're training with a National qualifier, and he's kicking your ass, ask him what weaknesses he sees in your game? Are you too pradictable? Slow? no power? bad hips? If you find that your counting the lights of the gym from flat on your back...ask him what he exploited in your game.
