Iowa City-Wrestling success at the national and international level has been a long time coming for Doug Schwab. After winning an NCAA title for the Hawkeyes in 1999 he continued wrestling but finished out of the money most of the time.

But Schwab refocused himself in the last year and feels he is a much better wrestler. Hard to argue with the deduction. Doug won the 2007 US Nationals and one month ago qualified for his first U.S. Olympic team.

Schwab says he visualizes wrestling the top foreign wrestlers as he works out in the wrestling room at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.

He says it is easy to keep up the intensity, because he realizes this may be the only shot he gets at the Olympics.

Wrestling action does not begin until August 20th.
