If they got their independence they would be no longer Russians true but until they do they are Russians. My ancestors were from the Middle East. I was born in Russia. I am still Russian. Ethnically they are not Slavs or ethnic Russians if you will. But they are still Russians nationality wise.

I would go as far as saying they would not be World class wrestlers without the Russian system. Just look at all the Ossetians and Daghestanis wrestling for other countries. Most of the time they are not as good as those competing for Russia.

I could also argue it was only as a part of Russia that wrestlers from those regions became great freestylers.

Also, it was the same argument that caused all discrimination in Russia. There is nothing good about it. Anybody born in Russia is Russian.

A black person born and raised in Russia would be Russian.

Right, then why was the word "JEWISH" stamped right on your passport, and the passports of your parents, while other Slavs had "RUSSIAN" stamped on theirs?

That was ethnicity. Culturally I was no different than any Slavic Russian.

What I am saying is that there is a diifference between "ethnic Russian" vs "ethnic Daghestani" and pure differentiation Russian verses Dagestani.

You can say ethnic Russian and ethnic Dagestani but you cannot say one is Russian and one is Dagestani. Other than ethnicity they are both Russian.

Its the same as Native Americans and any other Americans. I can say ethnic Italian and Native American about two Americans but I cannot call one American and the other one Italian since they are both Americans.
