    Default Jake Deitchler @ RevGold

    Stealing The Show

Jake Deitchler accomplished what most people thought was impossible at the 2008 U.S. Olympic Team Trials in Las Vegas. The 18-year-old Greco-Roman phenom from Minnesota came through a bracket that included a two-time World bronze medalist, U.S. Olympian, U.S. Nationals champion, Turkish Nationals champion, and a former U.S. World Team member ? to become the first high school wrestler to make the U.S. Olympic Wrestling Team in 32 years. As RevWrestling.com's Andrew Hipps writes, Deitchler stole the show in Las Vegas (Photo/The Guillotine).

Actually, I think they are talking about 2004 Olympian Oscar Wood. 66kg did qualify in 2004, it was 74kg that did not...

I think Faruk Sahin (sp?), the guy he beat in the finals, was serving a drug suspension.
He won nationals that year but was suspended befoer the Olympic trials.

    You are correct.
Faruk won nationals and tested positive for something that he claimed he "did not know it was against rules" stuff.
Oscar Woods won the Olympic Trials beating a grat wrestler in Kevin Bracken. He dominated him with the front headlock. Oscar actrually had a great tournament at the Olympic Trails, placing 4th.
