Default Proposed FS rule change

How about this to fix the "luck of the coin flip" problem in the leg clinch.

Just model greco and have the ordered hold position at 1:00 and reversed at 1:30 of each period. No period could end less than 1-1, with the last to score winning the period. It would also make the flurries in the last :30 more intense as the losing wrestler will have the opportunity to make up the points whichever position they are in.

I like your modification to the clinch, but I would also like to see the use of the clinch minimize. If the period ends in a tie, let it remain tied. Eliminate the last point wins and going to the clinch. If after three periods it is still tied, have the first tie breaker be most total points scored, then maybe go to the clinch.

Something needs to be done to keep it viewer friendly. The pushout was a good rule add...but if you tweak something too much you get no butts in the seats at big events.

there are no butts in the seats anyway, and never are going to be

so why not follow QS and let the best wrestler win

No butts for several reasons-

1. DI is bigger than FS/Greco in the USA in terms of wrestling

2. People don't understand the scoring (even the ones that have been around FS/Greco)-that is a FILA blame there

3. OVERPRICED!!! Nobody is coming...why are we charging $40 for a single session? Get a smaller venue and charge similiar so it looks full at least.

4. Let the winner of the WTT have a 2 year stint at World Championships and only hold US Team Trials every 2 years on odd years, so if you win this year you have the next two World Championships to attend

5. Olympic Trials every 4 years and you have to win it to go on to the Olympics as usual.

People follow teams. That's why NCAA wrestling is bigger. The old soviet vs. usa drew large crowds. Team competiton. There are very few fans of just wrestling. Maybe just the few of us on these boards.
