Americans seem to prefer those Russian wrestlers that lost to Americans in the past
Murtazaliev lost to Kelly but it was a different weight class than he is wrestling now.
I get the general impression that most American and other non-Russian posters seem to prefer and favor those Russian wrestlers that have lost to Americans in the past or in the case of Sajidov placed below an American (Sanderson at Olympics).
Hence, Batirov over Dudaev, Saitiev over Murtazaliev and Sajidov over Ketoev.
Am I totally wrong here or do I see a pattern?
Re: Americans seem to prefer those Russian wrestlers that lost to Americans in the past
This is just to sick.
I dont know, but are you a russian living in the u.s?
You shouldnt be demonizing the country you live in which provides you food, shelter etc.
There is no research or scientifical background to your statement or whatever you see/
Murtazaliev is just sickening good, so what if he lost, same for sajidov, ketoev and saitiev. Ofcourse people like them, and to be honest, people in russia like em to0
Re: Americans seem to prefer those Russian wrestlers that lost to Americans in the past
That's just pure silly.
This is right up there with your American housewife conspiracy against North Korea.
It has to do with publicity.
Americans who don't live and breathe the sport like I do simply know Batirov because he won the Olympics in 2004, killing Abas in the finals. They also know he lost to Zadick in 2006 and that he won the Worlds last year. Plus he's a very technical wrestler. Not too many people have seen Dudaev wrestle.
They know Sajidov because of Cael Sanderson. Plus he's a class act. People like Ketoev too.
Saitiev is the greatest wrestler to ever live who everybody knows as he's been around for almost 15 years and people want to see the old dog win his third Olympic title.

And henry becomes my favorite poster on the board! (Sorry, Jensen.)
Re: Americans seem to prefer those Russian wrestlers that lost to Americans in the past
Noooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!
Speaking of Dudaev, why in the world would we root against him? Did he not get beat by like six of our 145.5 guys during his sojourn at that weight last year?
Re: Americans seem to prefer those Russian wrestlers that lost to Americans in the past
I think he only lost to Esposito. Not sure here.
Re: Americans seem to prefer those Russian wrestlers that lost to Americans in the past
Pretty sure Lawrence beat him in the Schultz finals too. Six may have been a little bit of hyperbole though...;)
Re: Americans seem to prefer those Russian wrestlers that lost to Americans in the past
I,for one, want Murtza to win...
Re: Americans seem to prefer those Russian wrestlers that lost to Americans in the past
i find big's observations rather enteraining. So what if they seem anti american at times. Last time i checked this was an international section of the forum.
