Default Russia to develop wrestling in Mongolia

Supposedly Russia created a new program called "Global Partnership" to help develop wrestling in other countries. Mongolia asked for help and Mongolian team is now training in Russia for two months, all expenses paid by Russia.

The article states Russia is doing this to develop better wrestlers in other countries due to being a World wrestling leader.

    Any comments?

Mongolia used to be somewhat of a World power. Don't know why they slipped.

Depends on how you look at it. The Russian wrestlers with an "Asian" look are of Turkic ethnicity. These people are related to Mongolians but are not Mongolian. Same as with the wrestlers from Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, etc. The Mongolian language is related to Turkic also but not the same.

This well known genetic marker study hypothesized that around 8% of the population in an extensive area of Asia, including the above nations, share the genetic lineage with Gengis Khan! He and his sons were pretty prolific. This would certainly add some wrestling toughness to your family tree!
