I am certainly sorry hear about this, and no, sadly I'm not surprised. Open mats on Staten Island. You are certainly welcome here, QS. Good luck in Chicago, DH!

His name was Nick, he had a real good student named Corey and a few other guys. I went because I had been training full time with Darell Gholar here in Brazil and and I wanted to see how I matched up with full time wrestlers (as I split my time between stand up, Wrestling and BJJ/No gi) and Nick was very friendly, as were the students; talented as well. I was a little surpirsed at the differences between pure Greco and the version darell had been teaching me, which took out some of the non submission,MMA aspects Either way I thought Nick was excellent - he made me suplex a bag 100x before every practice and worked on every detail. I have the business card of the guy who brought him in and I will look him up, as I would like to find him. The directors name was Sonny. Ill look it up and get back in touch. Quote:
dmaswary@hotmail.com Ill find out more about Nick.. He taught in the same room as the fencing team and he was quite a good teacher. I distinctly remember he had a unique style of pummeling which used his body to force me to use more energy than he did. Excellent coach and a great guy. Good bunch of people there and I hope it doesnt break down and end. As for Staten Island I am definitely pumped up. Hpe to hear from you soon | |

Nic Catana was a coach of the Romanian national team. And yes, he is outstanding. He spends a great deal of time working with the kids and travels with them to many events to coach. He is taking several of the top kids from my team out to Ohio next weekend for Cadet Nationals. If you come to just about any local freestyle or greco tournament you will find Nic in some one's corner. Our practices are at Msgr Farrell H.S. on Staten Island on tuesdays and thursdays from 4-6 pm. Many of the same kids who train with Nic on mondays and wednesdays, train with us on tuesday and thursdays.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I am actually planning on retiring from competition on freestyle wrestling after this season and I want to start training in grappling/jiu-jitsu and try some NAGA tournaments. I'll be probably be training at Overtime in Naperville (since that is the main reason I'm moving to Chicago) and I'm sure I'll still wrestle freestyle for fun in practice.
