Default TO ANYONE WHO TRAINED IN RUSSIA or knows how they train

What was a typical training session/training camp like?

Were the guys expected to do workouts outside of scheduled practices?

How much running was done? I know they don't do traditional lifting, but what was there physical training like?

    Thanks

During training camps you would not have energy or time to do anything outside of scheduled practices. You drill technique in the morning, play games in the afternoon and drill and wrestle live at night.

You run 2-4 miles a couple of times per week generally. Most of the weight training is done either with your partner or with a plate. You take a 45 pound plate and do all kinds of exercises with it and stuff.

This is from my experience training 4 years in Russia and having multiple Russian coaches in America.

Outside of camps you can do weight training as you see fit depending on your size and strength levels.

So, every session ends with some strength and conditioning exercises. Once or twice per week they will run instead of drill in the morning.

I am a Hungarian wrestler trainer.
Much are the gymnastics and form work at us. Less are the running.

Little practice made with weights but more did away with a companion.
There is stamina in a forefront. The competitors endure this period difficult according to an experience.

I went to several wrestlingcamps in Russian and 2 times in Kiev, which was my best memory.

    The camp was as following:

    8:30 - 10:00 training

    rest

    13:30- 15:00 training

    rest

    19:30-21:00 training

Now the training consisted of a ball game in the beginning, loads of gymnastics and drilling.

After drilling light wrestling. the first class was 25% power wrestling
second class was 50% power and third class was 75%.

It was gymnastics and drilling mostly. But not just stupid drilling, your partner had to make it difficult for you as well by standing in different positions doing annoying stuff.

You couldnt do techniques that you didnt master. Some wrestlers who had upcoming matches did a couple of techniques and their variations the whole time!!

Running was included in the afternoontraining by doing some hillsprints.

    we didnt do any weighttraining..

Also the ratio of on your feet wrestling drillling versus parterre changed.
    Afternoon was parterre
morning and evening was on your feet drilling.

and oh yeah the food sucked!!!
it wasnt like really thorough well discussed nutrition programs, it was just campfood.
