    Default freestyle wrestling critique

Freestyle wrestling really annoys me. The scoring is lame. A takedown with no amplitude is only worth one point while a simple flip while on the mat is worth two points. Many of the flips are relatively easily executed such as when a wrestler goes for a double or single leg and his opponent grabs him around the waist pulling him over. That is the most chicken s? move, but like a lot of the simple two point flips or turns in a scramble situation they?re worth more than a takedown which is far more difficult to get. Doesn?t make sense. Also, because of the emphasis on takedowns a ton of wrestling is ruled out. Maybe ? of bottom wrestling is eliminated because the bottom man?s main concern is to avoid back exposure, oftentimes from a stupid little flip, long enough to be stood back up. And a great deal of top position wrestling is eliminated because of the danger of the top man exposing his back momentarily and the top man not pursuing a strategy or techniques which usually require more time to score with because of the tiny amount of time allowed before they?re stood up again. If after the first period there is no score one wrestler is given his opponent?s leg in a single leg hold. All he has to do is run his opponent out of bounds to score a point! Gimme a break! Folkstyle is far superior in my opinion. I don?t know why freestyle endures. Also, I believe American wrestlers are at a big disadvantage because folkstyle and freestyle differ so much. The two areas that the difference is the most detrimental to American wrestlers are standing and the top position. Many of even the highest level American wrestlers look clueless from the top position because the quick turn techniques in freestyle are not rewarded in folksytle and neither is the instantaneous back exposure or amplitude from a takedown. Therefore, American wrestlers don?t learn or practice enough many of the effective freestyle techniques throughout their careers. If folkstyle were the international style I?m sure we would do much better. Your thoughts please.

Freestyle turns are so easy but so hard for Americans to execute. Now what Irony!

Dude the turns might look easy but I can assure you they are very difficult to do on someone that knows how to keep proper position.

It might sound weird to Americans BUT in reality a takedown is much easier to get on a great freestyler than a tilt.

Meh both styles are tougher in some aspects and easier in others, if you think exposing an opponents back to earn 2 points is easy well there is also the risk of gettin exposed just as easily. This is a on going argument that will last forever because to me it all comes down to opinion, people adapt to different rules and are better at certain positions. I still prefer freestyle over folk because I feel that freestyle has a more technical aspect to it where as folk has a more cardio/funk aspect to it, but those are just my thoughts

Now this poster is new and he might not know all the arguments we have had here in the past. Even though I disagree with him, I would not want to be this harsh to anyone with an opinion.

    Freestyle turns are so easy??????

    hehehe bro,
I know wrestlers who just cant be turned in a freestyle turn. Theyre stuck in the mat, really strong.

I do get your points. The only thing i hate about freestyle wrestling is the fact that you can push someone outside the mat and earn your points. like sumo wrestling.

The rule has been made to make freestyle more attacking and less sensitive for escape tricks.

i like the exposure points and push outs, because it gives u ways to score as many points as possible in different ways. Scoring more points initiates more wrestling, and more action.

Sorry I just don't have time for posts like this where the poster clearly has no idea what he is talking about.

How about this breakthough statement I've come up with:

If the Sun were closer to the Earth, it would be a lot hotter around here.
