Big - not just muslims. I still carry scars from the Chicom version used in Vietnam. It isn't a very accurate weapon, but it will withstand just about any abuse you can give it. Mr. Kalashnikov design was/is a watershed - like the Mauser. I would put him at the level of Browning in arms design.
