Muz destroyed this guy. I don't know what Muz is doing at American. He needs to go to Uzbekistan or elsewhere and make Olympics. I am sure Tajikistan or some other Republic will take him in a second.

He looked very impressive. Did I hear one of the announcers say that he has won the Uzbekistan national championship? Couldn't he still compete for them in the Olympics even if he lives/trains in the U.S.? I don't really understand how all that works.

Plenty of athletes in other sports do that.

And, Big, is Muz in grad school at American? He could be thinking of life beyond wrestling.

There is a very tough import from Russia wrestling for Uzbekistan right now in his weight class. His name is Soslan Tigiev and he was a World bronze medalist in 2006 and World Cup champ in 2007.

Nothing wrong with starting your life after you have an Olympic medal around your neck.

Yeah, but if American will pay for his education now, it makes life much easier after you have that medal. As you have pointed out many times, an Olympic medal doesn't pay.

Muz looked great ... and the info from the announcer (one of which was me) was based on what was on his brag sheet. It said three-time champ in Uzbekistan ... but that could have been on the junior level.

Unrelated ... it took me 4:45 to go 115 miles into DC today. Normally takes 2 hours -- three max with traffic. This traffic was unrelenting.

Kudos to the folks at AU for putting this on. Bender Arena's a great place to watch wrestling.
