Vais I'm surprised by the definite lack of Iowa homerism in picks. Very respectable!

Your picks look about as good as can be guessed. I don't really know too much about a lot of these guys' freestyle skills, but I imagine 60, 74, and 120 could go either way based on their head to head records. Metcalf might have a good shot against Paulson, too--I really don't know.

Metcalf beat Paulson either here or at the Trials last year.

He hasn't shown a ton in the way of scoring today (part of that can probably be credited to the guys he was wrestling) but given their history you'd probably have to make Metcalf a slight favorite.

Finals results so far...

55 KG
Nick Simmons def Obe Blanc 7-4/7-1

60 KG
Mike Zadick def Shawn Bunch 1-2/2-0/2-0

66 KG
Trent Paulson def Brent Metcalf 0-1/3-0/3-0 (shows what I know...)

74 KG
Travis Paulson def Keith Gavin 0-1/1-0/1-0

They've got a real iron sharpening iron thing going on up in Lincoln with the Paulsons and Burroughs.

All three of those guys have improved a ton in the last year.

Going to be tough business knocking off Hrovat come Trials but this is a great start for Herbert.

96 KG
Jake Varner def Kyle Cerminara 2-0/2-0

Not a bad job by Mr. Varner. Wins the US Open as a junior in college and does it without having a single point scored against him.

Hopefully Hrovat isn't injured too bad...

Yeah it looks like Varner had one of the best weekends out of anyone. Mocco could potentially out-do him, but still very impressive.
