Default Burroughs, 1/3 the way to John Smith

Burroughs looked quick and sharp in winning Gold. This gives him one World and one Olympic Title.
John Smith had Four world and Two Olympic Titles.

Barring injury - can Burroughs equal this? Can he equal Mark Schultz?

    Will he stay with it?

Cael Sanderson had the talent and left for personal reasons. Will Burroughs stay and give us a new legend to love?

Who will he work with in the off season to keep sharp and improve so the scouting and prep work for his opponents will be more difficult?

I still believe Smith is the greatest american wrestler ever... but Burroughs is competing in a tougher world.
Multiple wrestlers from former USSR and three fewer weight classes (I think there were still ten weight classes the last year Smtih competed). In addition, the clinch rules makes upsets more likely where you don't have to score a point to win.

Would love to see Burroughs continue to compete. After he won world's he stated the his goal was to better Smith's record.

Its harder for burroughs as the competition is much harder now.

Yes. Also, the top wrestlers seem to be "aging" pretty quickly (see Kudukhov, Gatsalov). Still, wouldn't put anything past Burroughs. Would love to see a challenge match vs. Sharifov at this point

I didn't see all of Burroughs' matches. Did he turn anyone in the earlier rounds? Was Smith known as being good on the mat? I only seem to remember his takedowns.

Is mat wrestling a weakness for Burroughs? I ask because I honestly don't know these answers.

Other than going feet to back on his doubles Burroughs hasn't really shown any aptitude for turning people yet. One of the big reasons why his coaches talk about him not hitting his potential yet.

Smith was sneaky tough on top. Here are two videos from 91 Worlds (arguably his apex) and he gets quite a few turns here. His low singles were great set ups for leg laces.

John Smith was good on top. He was good turning opponents. Best Technical wrestler awarded because yes, he really was that good.
