Enough, guys. Everyone's made their point.
Yazdani/Gayzumov was surprisingly good given the (lack of) score. Yazdani has put on a ton of mass since moving up to 96. That eye poke caution was just brutal. I know the rule states that if you call your own T/O you forfeit a point, but the refs need to protect the wrestlers They needed to whistle that dead as soon as the eye poke happened.
Varner is clearly not as good as Yazdani, but he has beaten the Russian guy before. He wrestled like crap this weekend and he can do better.
Scott had a reasonably easy draw but it was no cakewalk. The Japanese opponent was a world bronze medalist last year.
What happened in the IRI/JPN match at 66kg? I was unable to watch that match.
I believe Varner will be better for London as Gozyumov. Although there will be a very strong russian (Muradov or Gadisov) , Kazakh (Tigyev) and geogian (Gogshelidze). Of course Yazdani.
55 . I don't understand. Why Simmons vs Rahimi (Iran) again? In Istanbul, Simmons lost him without any questions. They have to try Hezewilkel. I think this is coach's mistake. I seems in Baku Hez had looked stronger. About russians: after 2 weeks we will have national championship, where all winners will go to London. It is very important championship for all leaders. So come to Baku 5-6 № of our team. Sanaa is very yanger, 20 years old. He have 3rd place at Yarigin"s tourn -2012. Today, IMHO he doesn't belong in the top ten in Russia.
