Some interesting results thus far today. Who qualifies out of here? Finalists or just champs?

    55 KG
    Troy Nickerson v. Zach Sanders
    Michael Martinez v. Kyle Hutter

Nothing really of note here yet.

    60 KG
    Andrew Hochstrasser v. Daniel Dennis
    Drew Headlee v. Nick Fanthorpe

Dennis beat Mitcheff who is up from 55 kilos. Headlee beat Chris Dardanes and Mytych.

    66 KG
    Cary Kolat v. Zach Bailey
    Jason Tsirtsis v. Joe Johnston

As usual this weight has been a bloodbath. Andrew Alton beat McCauley and then lost to Kolat. Jason Tsirtsis beat Caldwell who is back out in his first action in a while. Johnston has beaten Slaton, Rader, and Nick Dardanes

    74 KG
    Derek Peperas v. Mike Poeta
    Matt Brown v. JP O'Connor

Nothing really special so far here.

    84 KG
    Tyrel Todd v. Tyrone Lewis
    Joe LeBlanc v. Kurt Brenner

Todd beat Umbehauer then got a forfeit from Herbert, Lewis beat Marable who is up from his normal 74 kilos

    96 KG
    Max Askren v. Byron Tate
    Chris Pendleton v. Craig Brester

Only real result of note here was Brester beating Tomei

    120 KG
    Eric Bugenhagen v. John Helgerson
    Justin Grant v. Matthew Meuleners

    Nothing special here yet

Not positive but someone said the top 2 in each weight class move on to Iowa City.

    Finals results

55 KG: Sanders def Martinez 2-0/2-0 (Big effort from Sanders here today as he had a huge win over Nickerson in the semi's and then beat Martinez who he'd struggled against in freestyle in the past)

60 KG: Headlee def Hochstrasser 4-3/4-0 (No gimmes at all for Headlee today as he went through Dardanes, Mytych, Fanthorpe, and Hochstrasser to win here)

66 KG: Kolat def Johnston 2-0/1-0 (Impressive effort by the old guy making it back to the Olympic trials again. Jason Tsirtsis was 4th here losing to Johnston in the semi's and then Bailey for 3rd)

74 KG: Poeta def Brown 2-1/6-0 (Impressive effort by Brown to crash the final, but Poeta did work on him here looks like)

84 KG: Todd def LeBlanc 5-0/2-0 (Another impressive effort here, doubly impressed by the win over Tyrone in the semi's)

96 KG: Pendleton def Askren 1-0/3-1 (Pendleton still loves beating himself some Askrens)

120 KG: Helgerson def Grant 2-1/1-2/2-0 (Nothing super exciting here)

Yes but don't forget at this tourney there is a true 2nd. So if you wrestle back & make it to the 3rd place match you can still earn a spot.

Wait a doggone minute. I saw that Herbert was wrestling in this, but I didn't see him listed in Jensen's final results. Does this mean he doesn't even qualify for the qualification tournament?

Both he and Todd are members of the Cliff Keen Club up at Michigan. Since Todd hadn't qualified yet I assume Herbert forfeited to him to allow him to move on.
