No one else will get the job done. Yarygin brings out good competition but the Russians and YoMommaStans aren't yet in Olympic shape. When they are we have one guy who can pull it off and he'll have to work harder at it than this years Worlds.

Varner, Cael and Dlagnev will be lucky to get Bronze with the competition they'll face.

A lot more international competition is needed to hone the skills and prepare for Worlds. Beating US guys just isn't enough.

Definitely the favourite going in but I think Tsargush will beat him.

    Mat points.

He is Americas best chance but he wont win. Both Goudarzi and Tsargush are better wrestlers.

I think his Winning it all surprised many and gave him a confidence boost that will be hard for the competition to overcome. Sure wish he had gone to the Yarygan to work against top competition instead of staying home working with second tier wrestlers.

We'll see but I think he can do it again.

Cael, at this point may not even try. All the hoopla and his disappointing finish at Worlds looks to have sapped his confidence as well as his job keeps him from working out enough to get ready. He'll use that as an excuse to drop out rather. Herbert can't beat him even on his best day but he'll most likely be our rep.

Dlagnev will be lucky to place third as everyone else ramps it up and he gets left in the dust.

Varner has a chance but will face too many big guns - his ponly real hope is the draw placing him in position against lesser foes to advance.

Cejudo/someone else? A stealth candidate for obscurity based on hope, some hype and not reality.

As a fan, I wish Burroughs had gone to the Yarygin but I can see where he's coming from staying home. According to his interview he's not in the best shape right now, and everyone will be gunning for him. Maybe best to peak later.

Tsargush/Burroughs went right to the wire last time, should be like that again, especially with Tsargush looking like he has something to prove at the Yarygin. I would love to see a Saitiev/Burroughs match, what a clash of styles that would be! Anything can happen but I'd be surprised if Goudrazi beat Burroughs, I think JB is just too quick.

I wouldn't be suprised if goudarzi beat him, sadegh scored every time he went for the leg, scored as the buzzer went in the 1st period cost him the period, hit a 3 point throw in the 2nd period but burroughs was given a push out but if you pause the video sadegh's foot was inside, then sadegh lost balance as burroughs did some funk in the 2nd period and ended up giving up 2, really i think its a 50/50 match if sadegh wrestles agressive and doesn't wait around i think he beats burroughs with leg attacks and guts.

I agree with GbDaz I had round 1 burroughs, round 2 Goudarzi.

I don't think burroughs is as technically gifted as either Tsargush or Goudarzi. I think now they will have worked out Burroughs style (attack the ankle, reshot). He will have a harder time in the future.

Getting one Gold would be a good result for the US. We have not multiple Golds since 96. In the 2000's we have had a total of 2 Golds in FS (Zadick and Burroughs).
At the same time I truly believe anyone who makes the US roster is a legitimate Gold medal contender. Our best results are often the guys who come in with very little international accomplishments.

This could be a dumb question, but what are Metcalf's chances? The last tournament I watched him in he looked really good. Does he at least have a medal shot?
