How was Khadartsev able to make 85 kg? I guess he wasn't cutting to make 90 kg. He was huge at 90 kg. His legs looked real small here.

Thanks for the match akzent.

The previous posters kind of stole my ideas, but I'll repeat them anyway

A: great match!!! Truly a "clash of the Titans".
B: What was the tie breaker rule in those days? Wasn't "last point" obviously... how was a decision made? That's about as even a match as you can get.
C: How did Khadartsev do in the 2000 Olympics? Like q_s I'm shocked he made 85 kgs, must have lost a lot of muscle mass while retired or something.

You can really see the clinching efforts adam saitev does to mislead his opponents.

He is constantly busy!

what was the score in that match? did Akhalmosulishvili get 2 point on that first takedown and another 3 on that head and arm throw?

Khadartsev had retired after Atlanta '96 but in 2000 he (36 years old) came back, won several international tournaments and wanted to make his 4th Olympics at Sydney trying to win his 3rd Olympic gold there. The final vs. Saitiev was decisive for who would join the Russian Olympic team. After losing it Khadartsev went to Uzbekistan und wrestled for that country at Sydney.

Before the Yarygin final -
semis:
Adam Saitiev - Sazhid Sazhidov 1:1, overtime, ref. dec.
Makharbek Khadartsev - Hajimurad Magomedov 4:0
for the 3rd place: Hajimurad Magomedov - Sazhid Sazhidov 2:2, ot, ref. dec.
Thanks alot for the great vid mang. Not to be an ungrateful prick, but the streaming speed can be better.
Pretty cool watching grandpa Khadartsev holding his own against a prime Adam. I think it speaks great volume of Khadartsev's greatness.
