Default World Championships Fantasy League Results

Given our issues over the last week and a half it made me very happy to have the opportunity to put these together today.

Gold wound up taking things by a very large margin spurred by his whopping 4 Gold Medalists. I came in second (CHEATER! RIGGED!) off the strength of runner up finishes from Goudarzi, Aldatov, and Balci, and then another strong finish by Saoril Yoshida who was the high scorer of the tournament with 44 points.

    Final
    1. Gold: 211
    2. Jensen: 164
    3. Judo: 162
    4. Zapp: 159
    5. Vais: 121
    6. Snackem: 112
    7. Herkey: 107
    8. KR: 102
    9. Dirty: 88
    10. Arm Spin: 60
    RIP Jacob Schlottke - 1984-2011

I consider myself a winner since I beat ArmSpin, and Dirty.

I want you all to know that my jaw-dropping margin of victory came with my most dominant male wrestler sitting out. If Sourian or his backup had wrestled, my victory would be all the more epic.

Is Jordan Burroughs my equivalent in real wrestling? Our paths are similar: 2009 - Burroughs wins NCAA championships, I win our fantasy league. Then we both had an off-year in 2010, but came back to dominate all comers for NCAA titles in 2011. Then, immediately and with very little training/knowledge, we dominate far more experienced international wrestlers en route to world titles.

Jordan, you've earned the right to call yourself my equal. Congratulations.

Why didn't you draft him then?

He was off the board before my first pick.

About halfway through I started cheering against my fantasy team when I realized that my picking them was the kiss of death. What a monumental combination of terrible draws and terrible wrestling! Seriously, between Tsargush, Taymazov, Durgienier, Vachadze not one even friggin' placed! Then there was my genious decision to pass over Nozouri and Abdelvi.

I take full credit for my "pick of death" being the deciding factor in Burroughs beating Tsargush. Never have I been so happy to see one of my picks lose!

It still amazed me that you even picked him, at that point he was definitely the best value on the board but I didn't know if you'd be able to get past the Golden Pylon.

Remember, I had a list made up. If I'd been doing this live I probably wouldn't have been able to type out his name.

Shemarov's victory screwed me out of a medal.
Jacob Schlottke---Gone too soon, and the world is a little less bright because of it. RIP, brother.

One, two, Evans is coming for you...
