Last year, Galhofa, a traditional-rural-ritual wrestling style in North Portugal was developed into a sportive folkstyle. video: http://sic.aeiou.pt/online/scripts/2...-21D05595C0C8} As a traditional style, Galhofa is practiced in only three villages in Bragança district, North Portugal, only once in the year – during the Santo Estêvão (St Stephen) festivities in late December. It is a FS-like style; held at night on the ground of a barn covered with straw. It has a symbolic/ritual meaning associated with the cult of bread; bread is the the prize for the winner. ![]() ![]() Last year, Galhofa got sportificated and in June, the first-ever competition in a non-ritual context was organized. ![]() ![]() |
