CSKA Team Cup in Russia in December will be worth $200K

CSKA as far as I know stands for Russian military Sports teams. Anyway, the club will host a Team Cup competition in December where the total prizes for competitors will be $200K.

So far the teams represented will be from Russia, Ukraine, Turkey, and Cuba.

They are also considering inviting USA, Georgia, and Iran.

Not a bad chunk of change. Those Cuban wrestlers could use it for sure.

I am telling you Cuba is the second best team in the World. They won 4 medals with only 6 wrestlers at Worlds and had 2 wrestlers in the finals.

I agree Cuba is, and was always one of the best in Greco Roman. I just wish they'ed change the rules back to were it's classic G.R.and get rid of this X-games version of G.r

hahahah. really??? he missed weight again??? hahah.

some of my friends trained in cuba, back in july .they told me they saw him and did not recognize him. he had a huuuuge gut. my friends trained there for 2 weeks, and said by the end of the training cycle, he was acompletely different person, absolutely ripped and lean.

from their description, it seems like he gets up to the mid 160s, when he doesnt monitor his diet.

I agree with FRED. They really do need to change the Greco Roman rules back to the way they were. If three points aren't scored then just go to overtime..I don't like the whole "winning the period" thing either.It just eliminates the losing wrestlers chance to score a dramatic pin. If he is out scored in the first and second period he loses. The final scores end up looking like tennis scores.

I think FILA loves the current Greco rules because there is more action (clinch) and they ultimately level the field for the underdog which in turn diversifies the medal count, thereby creating more global interest and participation, which in turn builds the sport in those countries resulting in more revenue generation and more money from the IOC.

You have a good point, and I agree with you but I personally am not a fan of it. I'm more traditional in that sense i guess.

I don't like it either. Just calling it as I see it.
