    Default Arm-Spin's US Open Awards

For freestyle only until I watch more greco matches.

Outstanding wrestler: Reece Humphery, the thrower. The "real" OW, Teyon Ware, is also a great choice but I picked Reece because Ware I think was very lucky to win his semifinal against Rushell.
Golden Plyon award: From what I've neen there was a ton of action at this year's open. With none of the winners putting in a truly boring preformance, the Pylon goes to Troy Nickerson for needing a third-period clinch to beat his own college backup. Special Anti-Pylon award goes to Jake Herbert for his wild, wide open semi and final wins.
Outstanding match: Lots of good ones to chose from. My favorite so far was the prelim bout between White and Burroughs. The 55 and 60 kg finals are also pretty good.
Best non-winner: Clearly, Cary Kolat's comeback takes this one. !5 seconds away from the title.

I thought Haze was outstanding/exciting and dominant(at least the matches I saw.) Loved his upper body and foot sweep stuff.

Watching Hump v. Bunch, I never got the feeling Reece was better, but he got a few calls that seemed 50/50 to me that swayed it the other way. So it would be hard for me to agree with the OW.

I guess Varner was excluded because it was a barren weight, but I'm not sure if he was scored on and he embarassed everyone he faced.

Second time in three years that he's gone through this tournament unscored upon.

I believe Tanner Hall scored on him. Still got embarrassed like everyone else, but impressive for a high schooler nonetheless.

While this may be true, I'm afraid only matches on flowrestling.org are considered real.

    That's entirely true.

The youtube video only shows one angle, but I thought Hump scored pretty clearly on his throws and was surprised it took that long for the referees to figure things out.

I loved Haze's final match, though I'm still confused as to how he scored 4 points, I thought he only had 3. In his semi vs Simmons, he won a 3-rounder mainly on pushouts, a good but not dominant match.

He was content to simply survive.

As many times as those two have wrestled one another over the years I think most of their matches are going to be wind up like that.
