IMO Taghavi doens't ever do a whole lot. I'll try to watch the Garzon match again when I have time but I don't think Taghavi could get anything going againt Garzon's superior strength. t's not like Taghavi wassuper active in the Stadnik match either, just had the opportunity for a couple of great moves and he took them.. Pretty sure Garzon beat Taghavi at the Olympics as well, he's just really good. In 2009 Garzon lost early and Taghavi didn't need to wrestle him.

If you want to talk conspiracy theories, how many clinches in a row did Taghavi win in 2009?

This doesn't make sense. If both Taghavi and Garzon were willing to accept bribes the Russians wouldn't need to pay off both, just the winner= since Russia only needed to face one.

BTW I agree that Garzon/Gogaev was fixed.

Well the matches move along pretty swiftly at World Championships, so I think it's conceivable that they bribed the athletes after the brackets came out or maybe even before. Not sure how they pull these bribes off, I just imagine it's easier to do if you don't need to catch a wrestler/his coach in between matches.

comon,Taghavi lost fair and square, he was outmuscled. but I think he deserved the bronze.

also Taghavi wrestled pretty well against Garzon in Beijing, he lost because of lack of experince.

Iran's team for World Cup announced today :

    55: Rahimi, Heidargholinejad
    60: Dabbaghi, Mostafa Aghajani
    66: Hosseinkhani, Mohammad Yousefi
    74: Goudarzi, Tahmasebi
    84: Ehsan Amini, Hassan Rahimi
    96: Yazdani, Tahan
    120: Azarshakib, Ghasemi

I think one "Hassan Rahimi" is enough !! now we have 2 !

Man its really dissapointing mirzaei isn't wrestling, the guy needs more international experience against the best wrestlers to prepare for the world championships and olympics even though he's beaten aldatov and sokhiev, its a stupid move not putting him in, and i would've liked to see how he would've done against the best i personally think he would work over all of them at this point. I don't mind hosseinkhani wrestling as he has looked better than taghavi anyway but azarshakib even though he's improved has no chance in my opinion, its a guaranteed loss. I hope they do well either way.
Anyone know the russian line up? If they're going a bit off the yarygin it'll prob be something like,
55- otarsultanov vs rahimi - russia wins
60- kudukhov vs dabbaghi- russia wins
66- baitirov vs hosseinkhani - iran wins
74- tsargush vs goudarzi - russia wins, if tsargush doesn't wrestle, iran wins
84- urishev vs amini - haven't seen enough of amini to comment
96- akhmedov vs yazdani - iran wins
    120- akhmedov/makhov vs azarshakib - russia wins
    dream match up
    55- otarsultanov vs rahimi
    60- kudukhov vs dabbaghi
    66- hosseinkhani vs baitirov
    74- goudarzi vs tsargush
    84- mirzaei vs gadisov/ktsoev/ urishev
    96- yazdani vs gatsalov
    120- ebrahimi vs makhov

He wrestled completely different though against him at the olympics, as jimbo said he lost on experience the drive was there.
