no, for this year, Takhti Cup acts as a national team trial (not directly) and they didn't wrestle without any acceptable excuse. (unlike Yazdani and Goudarzi)

I'm not sure if the federation can stand on this word, but I hope they do ! Iranian top wrestlers always find a way to escape from the trials, this must stop one day !

but as of now, they are banned from World Cup (not World Champs) and Asian Championship and the federation will decide about their participation in the World Championship but even if they get another chance, they have to start from zero like an unknown wrestler !

This about sums up iranian wreslting federation, they could write a book, "how to screw up your countries wrestling", They should set a specific competition like the russians and the americans, organized in Tehran. Mirzaei is possibly one of the top p4p wrestlers in my eyes, taghavi although his level has slipped is still a world champion, esmailpour is on a tear, and masoumi is masoumi, i'd like to see ebrahimi at 120kg if they will replace, he was doing a number on makhov before injury, azar shakib will just get pinned by makhov. I hope they don't put lashgari in he's a 100% going to lose.
Either way Iran has no chance in the world cup this year.

I'm not big fan of Taghavi's because of his style but I don't think he has gotten worse. He was never a dominant world champion- about half his periods went to clinches the year he won, and a lot of the big guns knocked each other out for him. He's one of many guys who can win, or not, on any given day at this weight. In 2009 the stars aligned for him, in 2010 they didn't.

I think a nice cheque aligned itself for him in 2010, the way he was wrestling against stadnik then him looking half awake against garzon, looked very fishy.

if you think that cuba, one of the poorest countries ever, bribed taghavi to loose then i believe you are totally wrong, garzon is the best 66 in the world today IMO but he is also poor...

Cuba didn't bribe him, the russians bribed him and garzon after, look at the garzon gogayev match clear fix.

I seriously doubt any Iranian wrestlers were bribed by. This is a communist/Eastern Europe thing. That's just the way he wrestles. I mean that's the way Iranians wrestle (except Yazdani). They always keep it close and often lose in the end because they sit on a 1 or 2 point lead.

Mirzaei doesn't, neither does goudarzi, dabbaghi, masoumi, all pretty agressive, really taghavi is the only one who wrestles in a real defensive manner, but when he was down on points he wasn't even trying to score in the second period.
