no he didn't ! Mirzaei, Masoumi, Esmaeilpour and Goudarzi didn't wrestle today ! all of them were supposed to wrestle !

Dabbaghi is a good wrestler but today he was a big disappointment ! lost 1-0, 1-0 to Kyrgyz wrestler in final without even a single attack in 4 minutes.

Whatever happened to Dlagnev being our most consistent international competitor? I guess the other heavyweight Dremiel Byers can lay claim to that title now, though I care not for Greco Roman relative to Freestyle. What I'm trying to say ineffectively is that it's a shame Dlagnev isn't performing better, who would have figured he would peak in 2009? Nothing against Sigman who is good, but I really hope Rowlands continues to make strides because his ceiling is higher than Sigman's IMO.

Would Arm-spin or anyone else with good international knowledge be able to tell us who Metcalfs competition was and how they have faired internationally in the past?
To avoid criticism say nothing, do nothing, be nothing.

I don't really know to be honest. I don't think any of the guys are world medallists though. The winner might be the guy who won the Iranian league championship a while back, our Iranian posters would know.

BW, I also thought Dlagnev was going to be more consistent (I had him #4 in the world in my recent rankings), not sure what's going on. Maybe Iran is in the same kind of situation as Russia, where they have so much depth that guys who don't make the world team are still world class wrestlers.

The Iranian who won is a 2x Junior Asian champ as mentioned by TheMat article. He hasn't done much else outside of Iran, but apparently he is their #2 at the weight behind world champion Taghavi. The other three Iranians that Metcalf beat are not in Fila's database but I assume the wrestler who won bronze is quite good.

This about covers alos iran has no proper selection process like trials in russia, sometimes they'll have trial matches between 2 or 3 top guys, but quite a few times if your not down with the system(which is easily done) you don't go, there are so many monsters in tehran that aren't in good ties with the system, they never get the chance, example takhti cup is a way to go for some wrestlers who can't afford, if there was a proper trials in tehran then it'd be really interesting.

Hosseinkhani is number 2 in Iran, I don't know Fallah and Mohammadzadeh but Aghajani is a well known wrestler at 60kg.

also Hosseinkhani may be number 1 soon ! because the Iranian wrestling federation is going to ban 4 wrestlers from the national team ! (at least for a short period) Mehdi Taghavi, Masoud Esmailpour, Jamal Mirzaei and Fardin Masoumi ! they won't wrestle in World Cup and Asian Championship for sure (according to the federation's president)

Yazdani and Goudarzi were injured, so federation accepted their excuses.
