Also, as tough as this tournament is, it's disappointing to me that none of the defending world champs (as far as I can tell) attended. What's up with that?
Dunno, anyone know if gatsalov is doing Iranian premier league? 84kg looks stacked at the yarygin though, gadisov, urishev, saritov, ktsoev, herbert, tavgayzov, hrovat, kortoev. 96 looks pretty good as well with ketoev, saidov, belenovsky, akhmedov, aliev, ibraghimov

As a rule, for Russian wrestlers Yarygin tourney is a kind of team trials for the European championships. World champions are not interested to wrestle at Euros, so they don't participate at Yarygin.
Another tradition (recall mtaches of Batirov and Saitiev bros which never happened): Yesterday, Khubezhty bros. had to meet in the 74 kg final. But Caucasian tradition says brothers shouldn't wrestle each other, so the younger one (Kakhaber) had to withdraw. This happened for the second time. In 2006, they reached the finals of the junior nationals. The younger one withdrew.
