Default United States: Greco-Roman World Champions?

From what I hear, and have been reading, Byers is in the Bronze Medal match at heavyweight, and if he wins that clinches us the team title, regardless of what Baroev does in the finals. If this is how it winds up going down, I've got to say thats a hell of a job by our Greco guys, especially to do this without Warren.

what i don't understand is how do you get more points for third than for first. isn't the russian in the finals?

Yes but the way it worked out was First place gets 10 points, Second Place gets 9.

We were tied with Russia, and Baroev was already guaranteed 9 points, he could only get one more with a win.

Byers was guaranteed 6 points already going into the Bronze Medal match, but he could earn another 2 points if he took third.

Not so many years ago, the Greco team didn't win any medals, much less compete for a team title. Good showing by the U.S.

World Champions!!! Amazing feat... This championship imo will do wonders for Greco Roman wrestling here in the US...
