I think that it is interesting that MMA is giving more coverage and writing more interesting stuff than most wrestling writers. What do you all think?

Good article, I'm often surprised at the lack of "slick" takedowns in MMA. It seems like a lot of former wrestlers employ a bull-rush double and that's about it. I know not every wrestling technique works in MMA but a lot of them would. It especially frustrates me when former greco guys clinch up and then don't do a lot with it. The guy's standing straight up! Launch him already! (Joe Warren is a good one for actually using greco technique in his fights.)

I am also frustrated/disappointed at how many high level Greco guys (Couture, Henderson, Lindland) always end up in the clinch and yet never try for a back arch throw.
I feel the same with most of the guiys with high level Judo, but at least they have the excuse of not having a Gi to grab.

Jon Jones is usually good for a couple of greco throws each match. It will be interesting to see if they work against Bader.

I agree with both of you arm and odh. I wish that former wrestlers would show better wrestling in mma. For a while there the best takedowns in the ufc were coming from a guy who didn't have any amateur wrestling experience, GSP. I also agree that the fighter I like the most is Jon Jones because he will do some nice takedowns. I also like Domnick Cruz and his knee taps.
