Default A video history of modern American freestyle

I've read posts on a number of forums that discuss the changes that have occured in freestyle wrestling. I decided to compile a video history for this week's blog. The 1960 footage of Doug Blubaugh was the oldest I could find.

Warning - watch when you have some time to relax (while at work is probably not a good idea).

PS I'm thinking of turning this into a serious project where the video history would be free on a separate website. There are holes in what's available on youtube, etc. I realize that pre-1960 will be difficult and that film footage of wrestlers like Bill Smith, Glen Brand and Henry Wittenberg would be rare and valuable.

    There's also a big gap between 1972 and 1984.

If any of you know of any footage that could fill these holes please contact me at jim@dmsolutions4u.com.

This is great stuff, great post gg. Seen some of the videos, others I haven't seen, Flo did a great job getting some of the videos that they have up.

It was my pleasure - it was a great time. The difficult part was leaving video out. I think there's a niche for a video wrestling history site.

    Jim -

1984 to 1992 was my personal favorite era as well.

Here are some matches from that era. Feel free to add to your blog.

    Nate Carr:

I have McCann's matches (not sure how many) from 1960, but not sure I am allowed to post them.

quick single - Thanks for the video links. The blog is already coming up so slowly for some people that I'm afraid to add more videos. This after already cutting out 2 of the videos you have there.

I'd love to see the McCann footage, but let's not break any copyright laws.

The longer this day goes on and the more feedback I get, there really seems to be a niche for a video wrestling history site. I don't think USAW, the Hall of Fame or Flowrestling are coming at it from the same angle.
