Chun certainly is improving at an amazing pace... Why the heck were these so soon after the Olympics? Did they actually have a trials for the worlds this year or did the coaches pick the team? |

Despite all of that, and a couple of Japans best sitting it out, it was a legitimate world championships. Chuns victory was over the best and it is amazing how she suddenly turned the corner. The other big news out of this tournament was 17 year old Tatiana Padilla. She took third. If she is comfortable here than this is her weight from this day forward. She isn't at Yoshida's level yet. But she is on the upswing, and Yoshida isn't. Look for her to compete and place at worlds next year, and push Yoshida into a rivalry after that. Tatiana is not the type of athlete to be intimidated by a reputation.

it's especially great for Clarissa because she was so hard on herself after her Olympic effort. Have all of the "veteran" women like Murata, George, McMann, Marano, etc., retired? |
