Wilson had two wins over Fadzaev? I was not aware of that, maybe this shows that it was not such a huge upset and that Wilsn was a lot closer to Fadzaev than I thought.

from what i recall from my coach (who was at the 93 WC and in fact lost to tom brands) wilson had beat fadzaev there, had his hand raised, then later had his match protested and lost on the protest and fadzaev advanced and wilson was bumped to the consolation side

Chris Wilson was a world silver (lost to Fadzaev in the finals) and bronze medallist.
I don't think his win was protested, but I believe that in at least one of the tournaments mentioned it was a round robin. Wilson lost to someone else (Nate Carr?) and Fadzaev won the tournament on points. I could be wrong though.
