Iran finished 4th and out of the podium ! I excpect 3 medals for today but at the end of day what we won was just a silver !
Taghavi had a good start, he beat Stadnik convincingly but then he lost to a better wrestler but Garzon ruined his bronze chance by an intentional loss ! and Lucky indian won the Gold ! still congrats to him, I believe it's the first gold for India in wrestling !
Masoumi had a very easy draw for a bronze at least. but he lost to his blind attacks! this match reminds me his bronze match in Beijing against Mutalimov !
last year Goudarzi lost to Tsargush in a close match but today he was nothing in final ! but Still he had a good showing in the tournament.

I think Iran freestyle team need a big change, The current system won't work. currently Iran has a better Greco team, Greco team was just unlucky. but freestyle still has more depth in Iran.

most of these wrestlers will compete in Asian Games , I think Iran can win 12 golds in Asian Games (all 7 Greco + 5 Freestyle) but that's the ideal result, 6 or 7 golds is still a good result.

Kumar may have been lucky to have the easier path to the finals, but who honestly expected him to beat Hasanov? After winning Euros he was many peoples favorites to win the whole thing. Kumar competed at an extremely high level, best tournament he's ever wrestled and he's had pretty accomplished in the past.

I also didn't expect Kumar to beat Hasaynov... but now then I think about it, didn't Kumar pin him last year at the worlds? Either way Kumar is the man.

If Garzon lost to the Russian on purpose it's a really frustrating thing. Because of Garzon's loss, defending champ Taghavi doesn't get to wrestle for bronze. Kumar never gets to know if he's really the best wrestler in the bracket. Fans of Cuban wrestling are without a world champion. I wish that FILA would crack down on this stuff somehow.

(If it turns out that akzent, Hubbard and myself. are wrong and Garzon just choked instead of tanking the match, disregard this post.)

Shapiyev was cery good at the world championships. He had to wrestle six bots, in which he captured victory five times.

Well I've known the results for a long while now since the happened but I've never been able to post my thoughts about it, so I finally got a chance. I'm obviously very happy and excited that the Russia won the team title in Freestyle. They had a great tournament. But their final day of wrestling was thei rmost productive with 2 golds and 1 bronze. Denis Tsargush with gold at 74KG, Alan Gogaev with silver at 66KG, and Biylal Makhov with gold at 120KG.

I was a fan of Gogaev going into the tournament and expected him to make a big statement out there. Of course I'm dissapointed that he didn't win the gold, but it was certainly against a formidable opponent, Sushil Kumar. Whether or not Garzon lost to him on purpose doesn't matter anymore since it's behind now. So I applaud and congratulate him on his performance at these 2010 World Championships. I look forward to watch him perform in the future, and I expect him to have a great future for Russia at 66KG.

I can't say much on Tsargush's half, beside how great he continue to performs. His second world championship gold two years in a row. He continues to perform with dominance. He had a great tournament and deserved it so I congratualte him. I can't wait to see more of him in the future and hopefully at London 2012. He is a great wrestler!

Beylal Makhov as always continues to dominate at the world level, which impresses. He had a great tournament this year and practically had no problems at all as always. His second world championships gold two years in a row also. I love this guy and he obviously deserves his place among many, so I can't to see him wrestle more in the future and win more golds and also at London 2012 where we expect great things from him. He is a great wrestler and obviously one of the best!

I want to congratulate more than anyone the 2010 Russian Freestyle team for winning the overall team title at the 2010 World Wrestling Championships in Freestyle. They had a great tournament as always and they get their second world gold two years in a row. I would also just like to congratulate Russia alone for an overall terrific performance at these 2010 World Championships. We finished with a total of 5 golds, 3 silvers, and 8 bronzes for a total of 16 world championship medals. The women's Freestyle team finishes in second place, and both the men's Freestyle and Greco-Roman team finish first. So congratulations to Russia for their great performnace and placement at the 2010 FILA World Wrestling Championships! They had a great showing this year, although we had a our problems and dissapointments here and there but we did our best, finished strong, and had a great tournament. I look forwrad to seeing everyone who performed this year for Russia in the future and I expect many great things from them.

So to put end to my very long and continous statement, I would just like to say: Congratulations to all of Russia and I look forward to see my home country put on a great performance next year in Istanbul, Turkey! Slava Rossiya!!

Grecowrestler, good rundown. I've often beencritical of Tsargush but he tore through this tournament like it was nothing, he had to work a lot harder to win the nationals I think.

With respect though, I think it does matter if Russia paid of the Cuban at 66 kg. It cheapens Kumar's gold medal (since we'll never know if he could have beat Garzon), screws over Taghavi and Iranian fans (since he now has no chance for bronze) and Cuban fans and coaches. The Russians are clearly the best, they shouldn't hae to cheat (if indeed they did). Fixed matches always cheapen the sport.
