84 KG Moldovia vs Ksotev, Russia. The match up of short guys with massive arms. MDA needs to change his singlet
period 1: Russia shoots of the whistle, but can't score. The two start slapping each other's faces. Russia double leg, pushes him out for 1. Russia wins period.
period 2: Russia pushout off double. Russia 3 pt double leg. MDA with a front headlock throw, Russia ending up on top. They look at it on the big screen. They score it 3-2 MDA. Russia picks him up off the mat, slams him on his back for 3 more points and a bronze medal.

84 kg: Aldatov, Ukraine vs Salas, Cuba.
period 1: Aldatov forfeits for some reason. Injured? Sucks because this could have been a great one.

84 kg final: Sokhiev, UZB vs Ganev, Bulgaria.
period 1: Sokhiev working the head. Ganev single leg, good scramble but maintains control and scores a TD. Ganev wins period.
period 2: Even JB making fun of Sokhiev's style. Then Sokhiev hits a blast double and follows it up with a gut wrench. Another blast double for Sokhiev. Maybe the audio broadcast pissed him off
period 3: Sokhiev double leg, drives him out. Sokhiev single leg TD. Sokhiev shot, Ganev tilts him for 2, comes up on top, ankle lace and nearly a pin for 2 more. Ganev holds him off and wins the 84 kg title. Another great gold medal match, and one Sokhiev will replay in his mind for a long time.

PS for those who don't know, Ganev is the guy who knocked off an exhausted Saitiev at 74 kg a few years back. I guess he's living up to that potential now.

96, can't wait for this final!

    Bulgaria vs KGZ
period 1: bah. no score. Clinch, KGZ wins the draw and takes him down easily.
period 2: Belarus shoots and scores. KGZ trying to lock up but Belarus stalls him out.
period 3: nothing happening. KGZ trying to pushout with an upper body tie. Belarus backs out of it. Clinch, KGZ wins it, doubles up for the point and the bronze.
First boring medal match of the day.

    Amirii, Iran vs Gogchelidze, Georgia
period 1: Amiri shoots on the whistle, pushout, 1 pt. Gog arm drag takedown, ankle lace for 2 more. Nothing else happens and Gog wins 3-1.
period 2: Gog with a 2-on-1 slowly drags him to the mat, ankle lace for 2 more. Amiri with a slick ankle pick but can't get the turn and Gog wins the second bronze medal.

96 kg finals Gatsalov, Russia vs Gayzumov, Azerbayjan. Clash of the Titans!
period 1: STOP FREEZING STUPID VIDEO FEED!! tentative start, a bit of head slapping, clinch. Gatsalov wins ball draw, pushes hi out for 1 point and the first period win. OPEN UP GAYZUMOV!!!
period 2: tentative again, not much action. Gatsalov shoots and Gayzumov sprawls, another stupid clinch. Gayzumov wins the draw. Gatsalov warned for not allowing him to clinch properly, it finally starts and Gayzumov takes him down easily.
period 3: let's hope this gets decided cleanly. Head snap by Gayzumov, single by Gatsalov, neither scores. Gayzumov with a snatch single, drives him over, almost scores 2 but gets 1... nothing on the ground. Gatsalov trying to lock up but can't, Gayzumov wins!!!

This is awesome, not only because this means my predictions haven't gone to hell, but for the next year we can actually talk about how awesome Gayzumov, Gatsalov and Gogchelidze are instead of discussing conspiracy theories.

My first thought as I looked things over was "Wow, maybe the conspiracy isn't real."

Great win by Gazyumov, caps off a great year for him.

He studied Gadisov's style of wrestling and what he learnt, he made it useful when wrestling him in Poland. I am sure he did the same with the styles of Aldatov, Ktsoev, Temrezov, Sokhiev etc. And I am also sure he could beat them. But he is helpless vs. a wrestler he doesn't know. He simply didn't know what to do, how to react when wrestling Gheorghita.
yes I saw his next match with Laliev and he is a good wrestler, Also I agree with your analyze on Lashgari, he didn't know what he must to do. but he is still the best of Iran in this caregory !

this guy Ganev competed in Habibi&Movahed cup and lost 5-0,5-0 in the first round and now he is the world champion !! 2 golds for Bulgaria in men's wrestling and both very surprising !

Morad had a good day at the age of 30, I thought he is done but he won a bronze ! he just lost to Kudukhov, nothing new, he never beat Russians ! he must thank Mike Zaddick for beating the Russian wrestler in semifinal in 2006 World Championship

also good day for Erfan Amiri (except the bronze final), at the world junior champs he lost badly to a Russian but today he lost by ball draw to Gatsalov ! also he beat 3 good wrestlers.

I thought Amiri should beat Gogshelidze. Gog had hurt his knee in the prior match. The strategy should have been simple, shoot low on the bad leg.
