Default 2010 Moscow World Wrestling Championships: Women's 67/72 KG & Freestyle 55 KG Discussion

Draws are out for tomorrow. We'll be finishing the women and kicking off with the first freestyle weight.

Kristie Davis is on the bottom part of the bracket at 67 KG, she'll have the Ukrainian in the first round. Dugrenier is up top.

Lee is in the top bracket at 72, she's wrestling the Romanian in the first round.

Obe Blanc got himself a tough draw in the first round at 55 as he'll be wrestling the returning silver medalist Akgul from Turkey. The guy that beat Akgul last year, the North Korean Kyong Il Yang isn't in the bracket.

Brutal draw for Lebedev who has Qurbanov in the first round and then will likely have Velikov in round two.

    Hi!

I believe Mongolian best wrestling Bayaraa Naranbaatar free style 55, first round Mikhail Zakharov of Kyrgyzstan. Zakharov was a 2008 University World silver medalist. Naranbaatar won silver medal in 2007 FILA Wrestling World Championships and bronze at 2005 FILA Wrestling World Championships. Go Mongolia

And women's 67 kg, 28 years old Badrakh Odonchimeg of Mongolia was a 2009 World bronze medalist and won a silver medal at the 2010 World Cup. First round Odonchimeg vs Nadya SEMENTSOVA from Azerbaijan who won a gold medal 2010 European Championships. I think it's great match.

So 72 kg, winning a World silver medal last year was Ochirbat Burmaa of Mongolia, which was her best performance to date. Her best previous performance was a fifth place in the 2008 World Championships, and first round this world vs Olga Zhanibekova from Kazakhstan. So just see what happens. huh

Wierd how these things work out. 55 kg is a really weak weight without Yang it it, while 60 kg might be the deepest one. I guess I'm picking Lebedev to win now along with everyone else. I kind of hope Velikov wins but he hasn't done too great lately, I don't know what his problem is. Both he and Mansurov looked like the next big star for a while before starting to lose a lot.

Canada's women haven't exactly been tearing it up this tournament, hopefully Martine changes that. A Dugrenier/Davis final would be fun.

Not what I wanted to hear as I just turned on the audio broadcast. Obe upsets Akgul in the first round and beats the Swiss wrestler in his second match, and then after winning the first period in his next match against the Japanese wrestler he gets taken down, taken over to his back and stuck. Kristie Davis is eliminated. Lee is still in it.

Lebedev has run the gauntlet so far and has the Cuban in the semi's.

Inaba, the Japanese wrestler that pinned Obe goes down in the semi's 0-6/1-1/1-1 to Asgarov the 17 year old junior world runner up from Azerbaijan on a late push out. That eliminates Obe.

The final between Lebedev and Asgarov should be very interesting. Good styles contrast.

Tony Rotundo noting in the audio stream's chat room that the Azeri wrestler has been very liberal with his singlet grabbing.

Who hoo! That's more like it for Canada's women. Akuffo has been looking to be in that final a long time.

Sucks about Obe Blanc. Is that the same Azeri westler who won the Europeans?
