So what happens with David Taylor? Will he compete at a different weight to make jr. world team?

I would guess that he'll probably go 74 kilos like he did at Junior Nationals last month.

I'd guess he beats Sponseller. I had high hopes for Colt when he was a frosh, but he seems to get beat down in the big matches.

Given that these are on the same weekend you'll probably see Taylor do one and not both.

I'd almost assume that he'd be more likely to go Juniors rather than Universities and thereby wouldn't see Sponseller.

I thought I had heard DT wanted to go for JR. world championship. 74 kg?

Wrestling is done until the finals tonight.

    University Freestyle
55 KG: Angel Escobedo v. Zach Sanders
60 KG: Tyler Graff v. Reece Humphrey
66 KG: Kevin LeValley v. Jimmy Kennedy

There were only 4 guys at 55 kilos. Esco beat Shane Young and Sanders beat Bedelyon to move to the finals. Humphrey won a wild match over Daniel Dennis in the 60 kilo challenge tournament final 4-5/1-0/7-0. LeValley beat J. Jaggers 2-0/1-0 to make the final at 66.

    FILA Junior Freestyle
74 KG: Ethan Lofthouse v. Conrad Polz
84 KG: Lee Munster v. Chris Perry
96 KG: Derrick Borlie v. Tyler Lehmann
120 KG: Steve Andrus v. Jeremy Johnson

From the looks of things it seems like Conrad Polz is your story of the day as he upset Spangler, St. John, and then Taylor in consecutive matches to win the challenge tournament. Perry dominated at 84, his series with Munster should be very exciting tonight. Lehmann won a 4 man bracket with no issues, and Johnson moved on to set up a rematch of the Open final.

    University Greco
74 KG: Aaron Briggs v. Kendrick Sanders
84 KG: Mark Stenberg v. Talan Knox
96 KG: Pete Gounaridis v. Zac Nielsen
120 KG: Jarod Trice v. Brandon Rupp

Not much really of note here, things basically went according to expectations in the challenge tournaments.

    FILA Junior Greco
50 KG: Max Nowry v. Colton Keck
55 KG: Tyler Cox v. Jesse Thielke
60 KG: Ryan Mango v. Jimmy Chase
66 KG: Ellis Coleman v. Tanner Andrews

Really excited to see 55 and 60 kilos here. Both of those series should be real battles.

Esco wins a ball grab and then wins the clinch in the third period to beat Sanders 6-0/0-1/3-0. Sanders did a nice job over the last two periods really crowding Esco and not letting him build up momentum on his blast doubles which he really killed Sanders with in the first.

Thielke apparently got a big throw for the stick in his first match against Cox

Esco beats Sanders 6-0, 0-1, 3-0 (won on leg clinch). Esco really controlled, Sanders wrestled smart the 2nd and 3rd but Esco is too big and strong for him. Congrats to Angel.
