    Default Byers-Greco

A little insight on why Byers was not wrestling this weekend at hwt-greco.
Byers showed up to weighins late, helping teamates make weight, they allowed him to weighin, then removed him from the tournament after the NYAC coaches complained. It sucks for our best Greco Heavyweight was not able to compete (I know he was late and rules are rules-just sucks for our countries representation). At least he is able to petition into the trails since he is a World Champ.

I thought he missed weight? If what you're saying is the case, that's a real shame. That's not the way to treat our most accomplished Greco wrestler.

Exactly! Let's give him a few extra hours to weigh in. Why not? Really he shouldnt have to "make weight" If he's within 5 pounds let's let him wrestle!
    Go Hawkeyes.

You're right, I skimmed over this quickly, late at night not really paying attention to the details. In my quick reading I lazily interpreted it that he had made weight but was slightly late to the weigh-in because he was helping a teammate make weight. And in my further disillusioned interpretation I thought that the officials allowed this before the NYAC coaches complained. Forgive my lazy, late night reading comprehension abilities.

Maybe he was out shovelling snow?

Rules are rules ... weigh-in times are posted well in advance. I think Dremiel's a good dude and everything, but we can't make exceptions. The lower ranked guys were there on time ... shouldn't the guys who we expect to win also abide by the same rules?

Also, it's not the first time he's come close to missing them.

BTW, Rulon Gardner missed weigh-ins back in 1996 at the Olympic Trials.

    That's low, Gold. Real low.

To be fair me posting my lineup 2 hours later gives no competitive advantage as opposed to having extra time to weigh in.

I did laugh out loud though...
    Go Hawkeyes.

Was he allowed to wrestle? If not, I bet that was a real hard lesson for him.
