Yeah i agree that maybe Shahin can also wrestle 74kg as well as he wrestles 66kg.
I'm not really an active participant in wrestling, and you could correct me if I'm wrong about the following:
do you have to maintain, for instance, only 66kgs, or can a wrestler be excused if he's just slightly over or underweight? should it be very accurate on the scales? is there a tolerance level?
if the answer to the last question is yes, then maybe what i was trying to say was that Shahin is not in the weight tolerance range. If there is, for instance, a tolerance of + or - 1kg, then maybe the reason for his absence is that he could be (hypothetically) 68 or 64kgs?
As far as I know World champ Besik Kudukhov can start a diet of vodka and beer for the next several months and compete at 265 against Makhov. In other words, you can definitely wrestle if you're underweight, it would be bizarre if you had to be exactly on weight.

Okay, but then what weight related problem would Shahin have? It was mentioned somewhere that he had weight problems, but if being a little over or underweight is accepted, then what other problem couold it possibly be?

Yeah i know that a wrestler can skip categories and still do well, but is there any reason why he wouldn't compete in his own category due to weight issues? Can you please clear this confusion?

You can't be over on weigh in day, he needs to weigh in at 66.0 kg or less. Chances are he has trouble cutting enough weight to make 66 kg. My suggestion was that he go up a weight class and wrestle 74 kg. Perhaps he either can't beat the Turkish representative at 74 kg (don't know who that is), or else he is not confident of sucess at the heaver weight classs.

FWIW there's a video on youtube where Shahin goes up to 74 kg and wrestles world medallist Gaidrov, loses 1-0, 1-0 clinch.

Uh yeah he got totally thrashed in that match...

I think he should stick to 66kg, because clearly he can't wrestle 74kg as well as he does 66.

But doesn't an increase in weight decrease the ability to fight?
