    Default Canadian Sr Nationals

All info from the OAWA website (I wasn't there myself)

    55 Pineda over Palani
60 Mancini over Hudson (no Saeed or Gia)
    66 Garcia over Prickett
74 Macdonald over Gentry (Cleo 3rd)
84 Brown over Sandhu (no Cross, Adamson 3rd)
96 Pliev over Jarvis (Jarvis beat Neufeld, no Zilberman)
    120 Arjan over Snyders

Evan beat Gentry 1-0 clinch, 3-1 (threw him from an over-under)

Danny Brown finally wins the title! He's been a top sr. wrestler for at least a decade, started out at 66. I'm pretty happy for him.

Hubbard (or others who were there)
    a couple questions:

1- the oawa forum mentions some extracurricular fireworks (coach shoving?) in the Ncube/Olver matches. What happened?

2- Does Evan Macdonald have what it takes to compete internationally? My thought is he would struggle with the length of the bigger 74 guys... thoughts?

    Wasn't there.

I don't see Evan being a medal contender.

Cleo wrestled Olver twice; in the second round, and in the bronze semi.

In the first match Olver won the second round and applied some heavy pressure to Cleo's head. Cleo responded by slapping him (not sure how blatant because I didn't see it) and was cautioned. Cleo won the match in the third period.

In the second match, Cleo slapped Olver again in the first round and got cautioned, but still won the round. The second round is posted on Youtube. You can see Olver hit Cleo in the head and get cautioned (though i'm not sure it was warranted). Later in the round Cleo got the pin, but while Olver was attempting to get off his back, his hands got in Cleo's face.

After the match ended Cleo started yelling that Olver "was not on his level" and started swearing at the refs. Olver attempted to shake his hand, which Cleo refused. The refs eventually raised Cleo's hand and Olver went to shake coach Zilberman's hand. Zilberman also refused to shake Olver's hand, and proceded to start lecturing him. Coach Hinds started walking on the mat and yelling at Zilberman to shake Olver's hand. Cleo then walked by and shoved Hinds.

All of my information is second hand, so if anyone wants to correct me they can. I think it is a pretty non-biased account of what went on though.

Wow. I've been to a bunch of the same tournaments as those guys, and I never thought either of them were dirty wrestlers.

I wonder if any disciplinary action will be handed out. The head-slapping stuff is part of wrestling, more or less, but I can't imagine the powers that be are pleased with what happened afterwards.
