Thread: toughest wrestlers

    Default toughest wrestlers

this forum is a little slow, and work is pretty boring, so i figured i'd start a new discussion.

who do you think are/were the strongest wrestlers... mentally. i always judge mental toughest as people who never give up, and are able to come back in matches no matter the scenario.

those that come to mind right now are...

the brands brothers -- they were known for coming back in big matches. alla gilbert, alla almost kendall cross, etc

as i have said before, garzon from cuba. he seems to fall behind in all matches, but always comes back. i liked his world's victory over batyrov.

baumgartner also seemed to be so calm when he was behind in matches, but always got the job done.

that book 'wrestling tough' also outlines a bunch of tough dudes. [a worthwile read]

By MY definition of mental toughness, this topic screams the name of Dan Gable.

Every wrestler that ever won three or more consecutive World Championships fits the category of mentally tough. To be able to "bring it" as an obvious target, against the very best, year in and year out, defines mentally tough.

I read a Russian book on best wrestlers of the world and it said there Dan Gable was running laps at World championships between sessions.
