Aslanbek Khustov could be considered as an late starter. He started to train seriously at 24. Yes he have wrestled since being a little child, but the Russian coaches said that when he started actually TRAIN wrestling at 24, he did have the right physique and strength but he didn't know how to wrestle. Now Khustov is olympic gold medalist, 2 x European champion and Worlds bronze medalist.

I think that you are able to gain success even if you have started wrestling later, you just have to train, train and train. Eventhough wrestling is way more demanding than any other sport, I am sure that you can reach your dream if you just follow it.

unless you are black, i doubt it. it seems most guys who start late are black.
    kerry mccoy
    dremiel byers
    melvin douglas
    mo lawal

also, these guys had some real talented coaches behind them. i dont really think you would have the coaches in the u.k like bobby douglas or john smith. that being said, it wouldnt hurt you to give it a go. the worst that can happen is that you arent that good, and you become tougher than you were before.

makes no sense. the color of their skin has nothing to do with their ability to wrestle. the coaching would have a serious impact on them.

black people dont stress that much as white people in the us/

Im talking about the: im proud being brock lesnar, matt hughes kind of guys.

Yeah we have been working on the farm since we're young, thats what life is about honest hardworking americans on the farm with betty jo and mary ann. secretly using roids, but who cares.

these kind of guys stress too much which makes them less better than they could have
that little guy from iowa has the same, he always screams and stresses his ass out.

Look like there aint much hope for me at the moment..

But do you guys think it is worth havng a go? Even if freestyle wrestling isnt quite big over here?

Do they do have national team over here and some pretty good wrestling schools....

I do feel like I have a passion for it.

Yes, it's worth a go. Most people aren't going to become world class wrestlers, regardless of when they start, because only a few have the natural talent to compete with the best in the world. That doesn't mean wrestling isn't fun. Go out, prepare to get the snot kicked out of you for a while, and see how you do.

What does it matter if there's nobody who started late and became world champion or olympic champion? You can be the first, don't believe in probability counts or anything like that. The only way to find out is going in to the mat and wrestle. I am just so happy that there are wrestlers from all over the world, and I hope that you will the first succesful wrestler from your country.
