Buvyasa Saitiev looks like he will be going for the 2012 Olympics. Mavlet Batirov is also looking to make the 2012 Olympics. Each of the champions got like $2,000,000 USD for their winnings.

I doubt that Saitiev can hold of Murta and others for that long, but it would be cool to see or sure.

Overall, are the Russian coaches disappointed with the preformances? 3 golds and 6 medals (3 gold and 4 medals in greco as well, I think?) would be a great haul for any other team.

Yes, they are because they expected to win gold at 55 and 84.

Excuses? Four of the wrestlers who lost were Ossetians - 55, 66 and 84 in FS and 120 GR. The last 2 weeks head coach Tedeev tried several times (also in tv interviews) to explain (or to excuse) their loss through the war. He said they were shocked; they were thinking about their homeland rather than about the competition etc. (Actually only Kudukhov is native of S. Ossetia.)

The truth is that they havn't wrestled enough at tournaments in the season. Some of them were "excused" from participating at the Russian nationals. For those who participated (Farniev, Ketoev) , the federation created a special, advantageous condition for them: +2 kg allowance.
They practiced in individual programes. They simply lost their experience; they forgot what is real competition.

Or if they at all wrestled internationally in the season (for example at the world cup), they were let wrestling without passing weight-in. Farniev was almost 70 kg at the world cup.

Farniev and Ketoev had BIG problems with weight cutting. Short before the FS tourney in Beijing, Ketoev was stil 97, so he had to cut 13 kg very quickly. That is why he was in a VERY bad shape on the mat.

Many Russian wrestling experts and some journalist said the fiasco was coach Tedeev's fault.

Also, Aleksei Mishin was expected to win gold. So basically the Russians are dissapointed because the should have at least 8 golds and they only have 6.

No guarantee he'd beat both Muradov and Gatsalov... Muradov looked a little nervous at the Olympics, I bet he can rack up a lot more points if he puts his mind to it.

BTW I wasn't suprised at all that Khudukov lost. He had some close matches the year he won the worlds. I was shocked that Ketoev lost.
